 Irish Willow Weaving Weekend with Orchard Acre Farm & Mahon’s Hotel, Co Fermanagh, Ireland
Willow weaving is a relaxing and creative craft. With expert tuition over the weekend you will develop new skills, hear how willow weaving has influenced Irish rural history and see the ways it has moulded the landscape. Friday evening check. Short presentation and video footage with complementary light refreshments. The hotel offers live entertainment and a very friendly welcome.
Saturday morning after a traditional Irish breakfast we travel the short distance to Orchard Acre Farm to begin learning the craft of willow weaving under Tom O ‘Brien and Teresa O’Hare’s careful guidance. Lunch is served on the farm. We finish at 4pm and dinner is served in the hotel.
Saturday evening before dinner there is an optional guided tour of local willow farms and Castle Archdale a local country park www.ehsni.gov.uk/archdale
Saturday night entertainment is live again in the hotel or you could venture around several of the other pubs in the town, each offering their own entertainment.
Sunday morning after breakfast we will take in a tour of the ancient graveyard and clock tower of the town, just opposite the hotel. Then we again take the short trip to Orchard Acre Farm for morning coffee and resume our weaving. Over lunch at the barn there is an opportunity to purchase willow craft and other items made on the farm. After lunch we complete our work and the course finishes about 4pm. Depart
